EverPURE Biodiesel Co-op
Everdale has teamed up with two local organizations, Power Up with Renewable Energies (PURE), and Swift Creek Oil Corp, to bring the EverPURE Biodiesel Co-op to Wellington County.
Biodiesel is an alternative to the regular diesel available at the pump. A renewable fuel, biodiesel is made from oils such as canola, soy, and recycled restaurant oil. These oils go though a simple chemical reaction and become a fuel that can then be used in any existing diesel engine.
Since these oils can be grown and processed locally, biodiesel is a great way to support local farmers and the local economy. This is also a great way to reduce your ecological footprint by not depending on imported oil. Biodiesel also produces much less emissions than regular diesel, and is carbon neutral!
The co-op aims to sell locally produced oil to restaurants, and then to recover the oil to convert into biodiesel. This will fulfill EverPURE’s goal of not taking land away from food production.
The co-op is currently accepting membership applications. We are especially interested in farmers who are growing, or might like to grow oilseed to contribute to the co-op. Farmers will be rewarded for this service with high quality fuel at a competitive price.
Please! We are looking for feedback during the development stages of this project, and need your input. Please choose the appropriate survey from the bottom of this page. It takes only a few minutes and will help to make this Co-op the best it can be. E-mail finished surveys to Lynn Bishop.
